“Fairview View” accepted to the Sandwich Arts Alliance’s annual June Kershaw juried exhibit August 5 – September 8, 2026.

The Sandwich Arts Alliance’s June Kershaw exhibit is a great showcase for Cape Cod artists, and I am honored to be included again this year. The Alliance’s gallery and classrooms are located in the historical old Sandwich Town Hall, which has recently been renovated and restored – this exhibit is part of its grand re-opening.

Located near the Sandwich Glass Museum (where they have daily glass blowing demonstrations) Heritage Museum and Gardens (which has antique cars and a vintage indoor carousel) and a very walkable Main Street, it is definitely worth a day trip if you are vacationing on the Cape.

The Sandwich Art Alliance is open Tuesday through Saturday, 11am – 4pm.

I’m glad that a Groton painting is getting attention. Fairview Orchards in Groton, MA, has a small seasonal farm stand on Higley Street near the Groton School. My painting shows the view from the stand as you look out onto Farmer’s Row, a beautiful street with views across the valley to Mount Wachusett.

Looks like there will be some rain coming to the Cape this week – why not take in some art when you’re not at the beach?

There’s lots to see at the Cape Cod Art Center in Barnstable, and if you’re on the Cape full-time or just for the summer, the Center offers some great classes for all ages.

This juried exhibit, which runs until August 14, 2026, has some great work from artist on the Cape and beyond, and I’m honored to be included.

The Great Brush Off auction to benefit the Cahoon Museum of American art is now open for viewing, and you find two works of mine included:

The Silent auction opens on June 27 at 9am and there’s an open house and artists reception that day, too. There’s a Live Auction Party on July 11th that requires a ticket.

The Cahoon Museum of American Art is a gem in Cotuit, MA, that features local artists (there’s always work on display by Ralph and Martha Cahoon) as well as great American artisans and their place in history.

The current show features Nantucket Baskets (haven’t seen it yet) but the Tiffany’s Gardens in Glass show that just closed was spectacular – I visited it three times.

Irrational Exuberance, Watercolor 2024

The Arts Foundation of Cape Cod’s annual summer auction is an annual fundraiser I always look forward to, and I am pleased as punch that this vibrant piece, “Irrational Exuberance” (watercolor on paper, 18×13, framed) was sold to a collector who has been very good to me. This year they offered a truly stunning display of works by local artists.

A portion of the proceeds from all of the sales goes to support artists work on Cape Cod – where painting is easy but living is expensive.

Inspired by the essential work of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, The Cultural Center of Cape Cod issued a call to local artists to create art that evokes the impact of climate change on local environments. I found myself fixated on the impact of carbon dioxide on our environment and took the opportunity to play with type and color. CarbonNATION was one of three works I submitted to this juried show, which is on view until April 25, 2026.

Reception on Friday, April 10, 5-7pm.

My work for this prompt is based on a photo I took in Woods Hole in 2023. I’ve always loved the colors, life and movement in this photo and was glad to find a reason to paint from it.

“On the Inside Looking Out” selected for the New England Watercolor Society Spring into Art Show at the Plymouth Center for the Arts on view March 6 – May 6, 2026

A sure sign that this interminable winter will end is the emergence of spring arts shows, and I’m happy to share that this bright watercolor + ink piece has been accepted to the New England Watercolor Society‘s Spring into Art exhibit.

The Plymouth Center for the Arts is a beautiful gallery space located in the heart of historic Plymouth, MA, just steps from Plymouth Rock and other early American history sites. Even on these raw spring days it’s a great day trip. The Center is home to the New England Watercolor Society, and always has a number of great exhibits on view.

The Center is open Wednesdays- Saturdays 10am – 4pm, and Sundays 1-4pm.

I’m especially proud to be included in this New England Watercolor Society exhibition in this beautiful gallery space. Once again, I expected one of my more traditional paintings to make the cut on this show, and they surprised me by choosing this contemporary work. My hope is that the fuller context of this painting comes through – while much of my work has a whimsical quality to it, there are deeper messages in to be found for those who care to look. But the colors and shapes hold their own, I think.

“A State of Perpetual Surprise” to appear in the Rhode Island Watercolor Society’s Juried Simply Watercolor Show, November 15-December 12, 2025

I’m certainly glad the wonderful people at the Rhode Island Watercolor Society seem to understand my art, as evidenced by their acceptance of this whimsical piece. Sometimes I feel like my work is a bit of comic relief in an angsty and serious time and that’s perfectly fine with me – but the tiny figure in the window in this piece represents something important to me. I can’t presume to know what it might evoke in the viewer, but comments are encouraged.
