This small 8×8″ (12×12″ framed) watercolor depicts one of my favorite views on Cape Cod. When I can, I wander down the street each morning and evening to see what the changing light brings – and it is different every single time.
It’s part of the Rhode Island Watercolor Society’s “Seasons” exhibit on view until November 6. The Society is open Thursdays and Fridays 10am – 4pm and Saturdays 10am – 3pm. As I’ve noted before, the Society is located in a lovely area of Pawtucket, RI, that is especially beautiful this time of year.
The Sandwich, MA, boardwalk is one of my favorite salt marshes. Whenever people come to visit, we try to make time to visit the boardwalk. This painting, now on view at the Sandwich Arts Alliance, captures the October light I love so much.
Salt marshes leave the Midwesterner in me dumbfounded with delight – they are different every time you look at them. On the shore the tides move in and out pretty much the same way no matter where you are, but the marshes give you not just the blues and purples of the water, but extraordinary greens, pinks and oranges and their reflections.

The Arts Alliance is in the historic old Sandwich Town Hall, and open Tuesday – Saturday, 11-4.
The Sandwich Arts Alliance’s June Kershaw exhibit is a great showcase for Cape Cod artists, and I am honored to be included again this year. The Alliance’s gallery and classrooms are located in the historical old Sandwich Town Hall, which has recently been renovated and restored – this exhibit is part of its grand re-opening.
Located near the Sandwich Glass Museum (where they have daily glass blowing demonstrations) Heritage Museum and Gardens (which has antique cars and a vintage indoor carousel) and a very walkable Main Street, it is definitely worth a day trip if you are vacationing on the Cape.
The opening Reception is on August 13, 2026 from 5:30-7:30pm.

I’m glad that a Groton painting is getting attention. Fairview Orchards in Groton, MA, has a small seasonal farm stand on Higley Street near the Groton School. My painting shows the view from the stand as you look out onto Farmer’s Row, a beautiful street with views across the valley to Mount Wachusett.
I owe so much to the Umbrella Arts Center in Concord, Massachusetts, for the opportunities they’ve provided to me and countless other artists, giving us a chance to pursue art instruction from an incredibly gifted group of instructors whose work inspires us every day.
I’ve studied under Kat O’Connor on and off since 2017, when I took my first watercolor class at the Umbrella thinking it might help me help Walt expand his art to include painting. It turned out that I was the one who expanded my art horizon under Kat’s steady guidance. Kat has mentored a devoted group of artists whose affiliation with her is measured not just in years, but decades, and I am honored to be among them and learn from them.
Each summer Umbrella Arts offer students a chance to share classwork completed during the past year, and I decided to submit my piece, “May Altar,” which is part of a series of paintings I did that were inspired by Mary and the Rosary. You can see the whole Moment of Reflection show in person through August 30, 2026, or take a virtual tour

Other pieces in that series include:
Rosary Paths, 2026Praying Outside the Lines, 2026
I don’t think I’m finished with this subject matter.
The Umbrella Arts Center is at 40 Stow Street in Concord, Massachusetts. It’s right in the heart of Concord (near the Library) and there is lots to do and see nearby.
The New England Watercolor Society’s summer show is all about all things New England, so I’m especially pleased to be showing this painting of Wood Neck Beach in Falmouth, Massachusetts.
The Plymouth Center for the Arts has gallery devoted to the watercolor society and is a lovely place to visit anytime, but particularly now as we celebrate this historic 250th year of American Independence – and the weather is sublime.
The exhibit runs through September 2, 2026.
The Center is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10am – 4pm and Sundays 1pm – 4pm.
The Plymouth Center for the Arts has gallery space specifically designated for Watercolor Society works.
The Great Brush Off auction to benefit the Cahoon Museum of American art is now open for viewing, and you find two works of mine included:
Seeking the Limelights, watercolor 2026Coastal Chaos, watercolor + ink, 2026
The Silent auction opens on June 27 at 9am and there’s an open house and artists reception that day, too. There’s a Live Auction Party on July 11th that requires a ticket.
The Arts Foundation of Cape Cod’s annual summer auction is an annual fundraiser I always look forward to, and I am pleased as punch that this vibrant piece, “Irrational Exuberance” (watercolor on paper, 18×13, framed) was sold to a collector who has been very good to me. This year they offered a truly stunning display of works by local artists.
A portion of the proceeds from all of the sales goes to support artists work on Cape Cod – where painting is easy but living is expensive.
Inspired by the essential work of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, The Cultural Center of Cape Cod issued a call to local artists to create art that evokes the impact of climate change on local environments. I found myself fixated on the impact of carbon dioxide on our environment and took the opportunity to play with type and color. CarbonNATION was one of three works I submitted to this juried show, which is on view until April 25, 2026.
Reception on Friday, April 10, 5-7pm.
My work for this prompt is based on a photo I took in Woods Hole in 2023. I’ve always loved the colors, life and movement in this photo and was glad to find a reason to paint from it.

The other two paintings I submitted that aren’t in the show are:
Carbon Footprint, watercolor, 8×8, 2026
and
Exhaustion, watercolor, 11×15, 2026
The Cultural Center in Yarmouth, MA, is a beautiful space in an old bank building and always worth visiting when on Cape Cod.
Concord Art’s Member Juried 2 show showcases multimedia work, and this is a really beautiful show with some extraordinary work. I am honored to be selected and hope that the lousy weather won’t keep you from making time to see it.
Located in the heart of Concord, MA, this gallery never disappoints, and there are lots of places to see, walk and eat nearby.
