This is a recent favorite and it’s included with a lot of beautiful work by NEWS members at the Plymouth Center for the Arts in Plymouth, MA.

Nothing Like the Sun, 2026

Inspired by my 2025 visit to France, I feel like I finally captured a bit of the light and heat of those wonderful days at Clos Mirabel in the French Pyrenees.

Autumn is a great time to visit the Watercolor Society’s dedicated space at the Center because there’s so much to see there and in historic Plymouth.

If you haven’t seen Plymouth Rock yet, New Englanders are endlessly amused by the giant monument that protects the diminutive rock.

“Violet Boulevard” wins an honorable mention in the Cape Cod Art Center’s Purple Exhibition

This is a fun way to close out the summer. As a newly minted juried member of the Cape Cod Art Center, it’s gratifying to be recognized for this whimsical piece.

The Purple Exhibition is on view Monday through Friday 9am-4pm, through Friday, September 11, 2026.

Looks like there will be some rain coming to the Cape this week – why not take in some art when you’re not at the beach?

There’s lots to see at the Cape Cod Art Center in Barnstable, and if you’re on the Cape full-time or just for the summer, the Center offers some great classes for all ages.

This juried exhibit, which runs until August 14, 2026, has some great work from artist on the Cape and beyond, and I’m honored to be included.

As a newly minted juried member of the Cape Cod Art Center, I’m glad they chose this piece to include in their juried summer nationals exhibit. I went through the review process earlier this spring and will post about that sometime soon.

“On the Inside Looking Out” selected for the New England Watercolor Society Spring into Art Show at the Plymouth Center for the Arts on view March 6 – May 6, 2026

A sure sign that this interminable winter will end is the emergence of spring arts shows, and I’m happy to share that this bright watercolor + ink piece has been accepted to the New England Watercolor Society‘s Spring into Art exhibit.

The Plymouth Center for the Arts is a beautiful gallery space located in the heart of historic Plymouth, MA, just steps from Plymouth Rock and other early American history sites. Even on these raw spring days it’s a great day trip. The Center is home to the New England Watercolor Society, and always has a number of great exhibits on view.

The Center is open Wednesdays- Saturdays 10am – 4pm, and Sundays 1-4pm.

“Coastal Chaos” and “Then There’s the Wildness” on view now at the Rhode Island Watercolor Society Making Your Mark online Exhibit

The Rhode Island Watercolor Society warms up the winter months by hosting online juried shows and I’m so glad to be included in this exhibit, Making Your Mark. Mark making is the use of lines, dots or other patterns as part of creating an image. It can be cross hatching or strokes of paint or ink – for me, sometimes it’s a struggle to assure that the marks don’t overwhelm the composition. The process itself is so satisfying to me that sometimes I have to leave a piece for days or weeks and come back to it to see if it’s successful or work on it some more (or pitch it).

Time to Get Out of the House! On Display Now Through March 26, 2026, at Concord Art: “Deconstructing Me.”

Concord Art’s Member Juried 2 show showcases multimedia work, and this is a really beautiful show with some extraordinary work. I am honored to be selected and hope that the lousy weather won’t keep you from making time to see it.

Located in the heart of Concord, MA, this gallery never disappoints, and there are lots of places to see, walk and eat nearby.

My original post about this exhibit had the wrong date and time for the opening reception. It’s this Saturday, December 6, from 2-4pm.

I’m especially proud to be included in this New England Watercolor Society exhibition in this beautiful gallery space. Once again, I expected one of my more traditional paintings to make the cut on this show, and they surprised me by choosing this contemporary work. My hope is that the fuller context of this painting comes through – while much of my work has a whimsical quality to it, there are deeper messages in to be found for those who care to look. But the colors and shapes hold their own, I think.

“A State of Perpetual Surprise” to appear in the Rhode Island Watercolor Society’s Juried Simply Watercolor Show, November 15-December 12, 2025

I’m certainly glad the wonderful people at the Rhode Island Watercolor Society seem to understand my art, as evidenced by their acceptance of this whimsical piece. Sometimes I feel like my work is a bit of comic relief in an angsty and serious time and that’s perfectly fine with me – but the tiny figure in the window in this piece represents something important to me. I can’t presume to know what it might evoke in the viewer, but comments are encouraged.
